PROTECTOR MODULES
LEA Networks ST5-G and ST5-eT Series 5 Pin modules utilize state of the art balanced gas discharge tube and self resetting PTC technologies to protect the telecommunications network from overvoltage’s and overcurrent’s (sneak currents) caused by lightning, electrostatic discharges, AC induction and AC power faults. The ST5-G series 5 pin modules are always on guard protecting the infrastructure while remaining transparent to the telecommunications network, allowing for maximum speed and bandwidth without signal degradation. Ideal for high speed networks, including G.fast, G.hn, VDSL2 and category 5/5e/6 rates. All LEA protectors meet Telcordia GR-974-CORE, NEC and CEC requirements and are UL and cUL listed to UL497. LEA’s protector module solutions also include ST5H (Hybrid GDT solid state 5 pin ), ST5S (Solid state 5 pin), and ST1G (1 pin GDT) options.

LEA Protector Panels provide high speed primary lightning surge protection for 8/16/25/50 and 100 copper pairs. Made in the USA these products are ideally suited for Enterprise, Central Office, Remote Terminal Cabinets, Datacenters, MDUs, Universities, and Commercial building Applications. LEA has re-engineered the traditional protector utilizing Cat5 SmartWired™ 5 pin Block Technology in our Protector Panels to respond to modern transmission and backhaul requirements. Using standard 5 pin protection modules gives UL Listed and NEC compliant protection for equipment and personnel against lightning, electrostatic discharge, and AC line power faults. LEA’s design, engineering, and Chicago based manufacturing provides custom development, cabling, and connectorizing options to meet the precise needs of any application.
BUILDING ENTRANCE PROTECTORS PANELS (BEP)
LEA Networks indoor Building Entrance Protectors (BEPs) provide high speed primary lightning surge protection for 8/16/25/50 copper pairs. Made in the USA these products are ideally suited for Enterprise, Universities, Multiple Dwelling Units and Commercial building Applications. LEA has re-engineered the traditional protector utilizing Cat5 SmartWired™ 5 pin Block Technology in our BEPs to respond to modern transmission requirements. Using standard 5 pin protection modules gives UL Listed and NEC compliant protection for equipment and personnel against lightning, electrostatic discharge, and AC line power faults. LEA’s design, engineering, and Chicago based manufacturing provides custom development, cabling, and connectorizing options to meet the precise needs of any application.
5 PIN PROTECTOR BLOCKS
LEA has re-engineered the traditional 5 pin protector block to respond to modern transmission requirements with a highly flexible design. These protector blocks are the foundation for Cat5 SmartWired™ panel systems. The socket terminals are designed and positioned to minimize the tip to ring wire wrap pin distance. This maximizes adjacent pair to pair spacing, optimizing transmission performance. The large space between adjacent rows allows wires to be routed away from the tip/ring groups, preventing crosstalk between the wire pairs and tip/ring wire wrap pins. This unique design is an industry first. Integrated wire-routing rings reinforce proper pair routing during production and maintain wiring control during higher product assembly. All ground bars are solid copper and sized to exceed Telcordia and UL requirements. Multiple mounting options and fastener locations allow for minimal or no redesign to existing panels and cabinets. The blocks mount from the inside for a clean panel design, and can be fastened using panel studs or screws. A snap-to-size 6AWG equivalent copper ground strap is available for multiple block bonding.
